4th Generation iPod nano
Posted on | November 21, 2009 | No Comments
The 4th-generation iPod nano returns the nano to its roots – it’s once again a tall, narrow iPod. The 3rd-generation model was a radical departure for the nano line, with its squat size and square screen, but the 4th-generation model is tall, with a rectangular screen and some exciting new features.
The 4th-generation iPod nano offers both 8GB and 16GB of storage, the iPod’s traditional clickwheel, and both the traditional iPod menus as well as CoverFlow. The 3rd-generation model added support for video playback and this model carries that feature forward.
Both models sport a 2-inch 320 x 240 screen, weigh 1.3 ounces, and offer up to 24 hours of audio playback.
New Features in iPod nano 4th Generation
New additions to the model include:
- Support for iTunes Genius playlists
- A screen that can re-orient itself based on how the nano is being held a la the iPhone or iPod touch
- Support for the new Apple earphones remote and mic
- Nine different colors
- A slightly curved shape
- Speakable menus
- Shake-to-shuffle.
Shake to Shuffle is perhaps the most exciting new feature in this nano. It uses the nano’s built-in acceleromter – the same technology that lets the iPhone and iPod touch be aware of and respond to the device being moved. With it, users can simply shake the iPod and get a shuffled playlist of music.
4th-Generation iPod nano Reviews
I haven’t yet had a chance to review the 4th-generation iPod nano, but here are some reviews from other sites. I’ll update this page when I review the nano myself.

Top 10 Low Fat Foods To Stock In Your Pantry If You Want To Lower Your Cholesterol
Posted on | October 14, 2009 | No Comments
(LifeWire) - Do brownie mixes beckon you? Do creamed soups summon you to the pantry? Respond to the call by throwing out these unhealthy choices and stocking your shelves with these top 10 tempting pantry foods that can actually help lower your cholesterol.
1. Soy nuts.
Not only do they reduce the “bad cholesterol” (LDLs), but they also have fewer calories than dry roasted peanuts (128 versus 166), ounce for ounce.
2. Black beans, kidney beans, chick peas.
Add these cholesterol busters to pasta dishes and soups, and mash them into dips.
3. Salmon and tuna, water-packed in cans or sold in pouches.
These fish products provide omega-3 fatty acids, which raise your “good cholesterol” (HDLs) while lowering the “bad cholesterol” (LDLs). Make a fish salad with low-fat mayonnaise and celery, and pack in a tomato.
4. Array of spices.
Maximizing taste helps you stick with lowering your cholesterol intake. Stock up on Italian seasoning, cumin, rosemary and real vanilla to make low-fat soups, grilled lean meats and desserts that burst with flavor.
5. Non-fat cooking spray.
These sprays are a must-have for sautéing lean meats, fish or chicken or for stir-frying veggies.
6. Olive oil.
Rich in monounsaturated fat, olive oil can help you lower your “bad cholesterol” by replacing saturated fat in your diet. Use it in cooking and in salad dressings, or mix it with whole wheat pasta.
7. Almonds.
Although walnuts, pecans, pistachios and other nuts can also lower cholesterol, the most conclusive research is for almonds. One serving (about 23 almonds) makes a great on-the-go snack.
8. Dried fruit.
Enjoy prunes, dates and raisins out of the box. Toss dried cranberries in a salad or in your breakfast cereal.
9. Oatmeal.
You’ve heard it for years, and it’s true: This old-fashioned breakfast decreases the “bad cholesterol” and increases the “good.” Add a banana for extra fiber.
10. Dark chocolate.
Everybody needs a treat. Make yours 70% or more cocoa, and you’ll lower your “bad cholesterol” while raising the “good” with a half-ounce serving every day. Beware: More than that amount will just add on extra calories, which can pack on extra pounds.
Got your shopping list ready? After filling your pantry with heart-healthy foods you’ll still face temptation — but now, it’s OK to give in.

Tips for a Healthy Heart
Posted on | October 14, 2009 | No Comments
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S. today, and the leading cause of death for smokers as well. Cigarette smoking is directly linked to 30 percent of all heart disease deaths in the United States each year. Bottom line: Smoking is hard on the heart.
Top 5 Tips to Prevent Heart Disease
1) Quit Smoking!
Because cigarette smoking is so prevalent and destructive, it has been identified by the U.S. Surgeon General as the single most preventable cause of disease and premature death in the nation. Smoking increases the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD}, peripheral vascular disease (PVD), and coronary heart disease (CHD). And, for people with a history of CHD, cigarette smoking is also a risk factor for sudden cardiac death.
2) Watch Your Waistline
The risks to heart health that are associated with obesity include heart attacks, heart failure, CVD and CHD, along with a whole host of other negative health effects. Choose a balanced diet that is low in saturated fat and high in lean protein, fruits and vegetables, healthy oils and whole, unprocessed grains. Be good to your heart by maintaining the proper weight for your age and body type.
3) Keep Moving
As little as a half hour of exercise daily can protect your heart. Aerobic activities such as walking, running and swimming work the heart and help keep it robust. We all have busy schedules and hectic lifestyles, and fitting in a daily workout can be an overwhelming thought. However, it’s important to remember that exercise doesn’t have to be done all at once to be beneficial. Take a couple of short walks a day and use the stairs whenever possible. We can all fit in 10 minutes here and 15 minutes there to move our bodies if we make it a priority. Embrace the challenge and think of exercise as a gift, not a chore. And in a very real way, that’s just what it is, a gift…for your heart.
4) Watch Your Cholesterol
The toxins in tobacco smoke lower a person’s high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL or “good” cholesterol) while raising levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL or “bad” cholesterol). A high level of LDL in the blood is a significant risk factor for atherosclerosis, also known as hardening of the arteries. Other factors that influence cholesterol are genetics and eating a diet rich in saturated fats and trans fats. If it’s been a year or more since your last cholesterol check, call your doctor and schedule an appointment. If your cholesterol is high, there are steps you can take to control it.
5) Maintain Normal Blood Pressure
While at the doctor’s office getting your cholesterol checked, have your blood pressure checked also. Maintaining a healthy blood pressure reduces the risk of heart attack, stroke and heart failure. High blood pressure is considered to be anything over 140 for systolic blood pressure and 90 for diastolic blood pressure. If yours is high, take it seriously and follow your doctor’s recommendations.
When you quit smoking, other risk factors for heart disease will be diminished as well. Smokers usually exercise less, especially as they get older and lung function becomes impaired. That inactivity in turn often leads to weight gain. Cigarette smoke also increases bad cholesterol, and while smoking won’t cause high blood pressure, if a smoker has hypertension, smoking can increase the risk of malignant hypertension, a dangerous form of high blood pressure.
If you’re still smoking, I urge you to make the commitment to quit now. Every cigarette smoked causes additional stress and damage to your body. And it won’t get any easier to stop the longer you wait. I spent years fervently wishing I could find the right combination of motivation and guts to leave smoking behind for good. One important lesson I learned was this: For a nicotine addict, there is no “ideal” time to quit. Don’t believe the fallacy that you’ll stop smoking “when you’re ready.” You could die waiting for that day to come.
- Quit Smoking 101 - A Free Email Course
The truth is, addiction creates a fear of quitting that is hard to overcome, regardless of when we decide to stop smoking. But overcome it you can, as long as you take that all important first step and put the cigarettes down. From there, you’ll find that with support, education, and the patience to work your quit program one simple day at a time, you can defeat that fear and conquer nicotine addiction…once and for all.

Mel Gibson Confirms the Pregnancy Rumors
Posted on | October 7, 2009 | No Comments
Actor Mel Gibson was a guest on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno last night and was more than happy to confirm the recent pregnancy rumors. Mel, 53, told Jay that not only was he in a relationship with musician
Jay quipped, “The rumor I have heard is that you guys are going to have a child?” and Mel said “This is true. We’re gonna have a child.” In an attempt to lighten the mood, when Jay asked if this would be Mel’s 29th child, the actor/director replied, “Well, actually eight. I guess I’m Octo-Mel.”
Mel even opened up about the end of his 28-year marriage to Robyn Gibson. “My wife and I, our marriage ended three years ago and we’ve been separated ever since then. These things happen. It’s unfortunate, it’s sad, but you know she is an admirable woman - we still got kids together. We’re friends,” he said.
Unfortunately, I suspect that things won’t still be this amicable between Mel and Robyn once the courts get involved and money is on the table.
Britney Spears Talks to Matt Lauer
Posted on | October 7, 2009 | No Comments
Former popstar Britney Spears has had enough of the media making claims about her and the choices that she makes. She took the advice of her spiritual advisor and decided to open up in an interview with Matt Lauer that aired in June 2006. Check out the things that Britney had to say about being married to Kevin Federline, being a good mom, and even starting her own clothing line.
On her hard working husband Kevin Federline:
“He’s very simple. Women complicate everything. He cares so much and his heart is awesome. He has a really big heart and I love that. You know, he has children now that he wants to support and not just let it be all me. He’s a man. I think it’s very important to him that he is doing his own thing.”
Kevin has a really big heart? It’s so big that at one point, he even split his love time between then pregnant Shar Jackson and Britney Spears. And if doing his own thing includes partying until all hours of the night and pretending to record tracks to an album that no one will ever buy anyway, then I applaud the guy for meeting his goals.
On her plans to launch a baby clothing line:
“I have a baby clothes line that’s supposed to be coming out. And it’s called “Babies are Rock and Roll.”
Babies are more than just rock and roll, as I’m sure Britney is learning from experience. Babies are also hard work as they rely on you to keep them safe from harmful things like sitting on your lap while you drive or not dropping them on the street. Maybe Britney should re-name her clothing line
“Babies are Easy When You Have a Manny.”
On almost dropping her baby in NYC:
“Actually, I didn’t trip on anything. It was a New York street, and just cobblestones. And I was walking and I don’t think we were prepared with security, cause I’ve never had that much paparazzi ever on me in New York. So I think it was a mixture of so many paparazzi and how the road was all messed up, me just trying to get in the car.”
What a way to accept responsibility for your actions Miss Britney. I can see how those streets of New York can get super tricky and difficult to navigate while carrying a baby. More like, it’s not easy to juggle your baby in one hand and a Starbucks latte in the other while simultaneously trying to pose for the paparazzi cameras.
On Kevin’s status when they met (he had a pregnant girlfriend):
“Actually, I didn’t know. I didn’t know until two months later. But I don’t blame him because him and his friends - I’ve talked to his friends about this. They weren’t technically together when he came to me anyways. But that happened with Julia Roberts too. Her husband was married. But for some reason it’s like, “boom, in your face” when it happens with me and it’s really none of anybody’s business.”
It’s actually kind of cute the way she compares herself to a legendary actress like Julia Roberts. While it may be true that Danny Moder was married when he met Julia, what does any of that have to do with Britney?
She needs to take responsibility for her actions with Kevin once and for all. She needs to stand up proudly and accept her ribbon that says “#1 Home Wrecker”. That is of course if Denise Richards chooses not to accept it first.
Upgrade WM6.5 O2 Atom Black and Pure
Posted on | September 8, 2009 | No Comments

Posted on | September 8, 2009 | No Comments

Swine Flu Alternative Treatment
Posted on | August 22, 2009 | No Comments
Swine flu what is it? Swine flu A (H1N1) is a viral infection that originated from pigs and was first isolated from pigs in the 1930s. This viral infection is transmitted to humans who are in contact with swine, although there are several cases of swine flu in people who had no known exposure to either infected people or pigs. Eating pork will not cause one to develop the swine flu. Basically, this flu is passed from one person to another like any cold or flu infection. We have to remember that most flu symptoms simply have a viral infection and NOT the swine flu. Hydration is very important if you contract any viral illness. The swine flu is diagnosed when a physician suspects infection, and sends a nasopharyngeal swab (a Q-tip of shorts placed about 2 inches in your nose towards your throat) in a special viral collection container to a special lab to be tested. . Symptoms of all types of influenza, flu or swine flu usually appear following an incubation period of one to four days after initial exposure, and run their course over a period of seven to 10 days. The elderly, the very young, and the chronically ill are at increased risk of potentially serious complications such as bacterial bronchitis and pneumonia.
Swine flu alternative treatment Consume plenty of fluids, especially fresh juices, herbal teas, soups, and quality water, to prevent dehydration and help flush out the body. To shorten the length of the flu, go on a liquid diet emphasizing hot herbal teas and hot broth for one or two days. Take hot chicken or turkey soup. This is grandmother’s old remedy and it is still good today. Add a bit of cayenne pepper to help prevent and break up congestion. Avoid dairy products, mucus forming foods and sugar. Sleep and rest as much as possible. In treating a sore throat, avoid using aspirin chewing gum and aspirin gargles. Aspirin applied directly to mucous membranes does not reduce pain and can act as an irritant. Do not take zinc at the same time you eat or drink citrus fruits or juices. It will diminish the effectiveness of the zinc. Do consume a lot of other types of fruit. Do not take iron supplements while a fever exists. Do not give aspirin to a child who has the swine flu. The combination of aspirin and a viral illness has been linked to the development of Reye’s syndrome, a potentially dangerous complication. Fever is one of the body’s major defense mechanisms against the flu. Swine flu or other flu viruses do not survive well in a warmer environment. If you have a fever, do not try to suppress it, unless it is over 103F. If you consume alcoholic beverages even occasionally, or if you have liver or kidney disease, be cautious about using painkiller acetaminophen (Tylenol, datril, and others) the combination of alcohol and acetaminophen has been associated with serious liver problems. If you are over sixty-five see your health care provider. Swine flu or other flu viruses can cause serious complications for people in this age group. Since the swine flu and other flu viruses are often transmitted by way of the hands, wash your hands frequently with an antibacterial soap. Rinse and dry your hands thoroughly and keep them away from your eyes, nose, and mouth. If you sneeze, use a disposable tissue. Buy a new toothbrush-toothbrush can harbor viruses and prolong the illness. All treatments above are incomplete without this one. A potent natural remedy to ease swine flu A (H1N1) and other flu viruses. Very effective and powerful alternative therapy in treating even all diseases and is highly recommended by almost 15,000 European doctors. Take the time to discover and study the best swine flu alternative treatment. Just follow the link and watch the 5minute video presentation:
